Opiates after kratom?

I keep telling myself that I need to start this blog at the beginning… but I find so many people have so many questions, I’m just going to start with the first discussion I had today about Kratom and its effects. The question I was asked today by another ex-opiate user was: what has happened to my body being able/not being able to process opiates now? He had knee surgery, was prescribed meds and took them accordingly, but NOTHING!

Interesting. I have noticed the same thing. After years of heavy opiate use, I switched to Kratom for all that ailed me. I have been using Kratom consistently for a couple of years. Not daily, but so what if I was? I had some major dental surgery done and was prescribed opiates for the pain. I was excited to have a few and to welcome back that sweet warm feeling only opiates can give after abstaining for such a time. But what I noticed is - I didn’t feel A THING. At all. No pain relief. No minimal high. Nothing. I waited a couple of days and tried again, taking an “old pro’s” dose…. Still nothing. I reasoned that the continuous Kratom in my body was keeping the opiates from working; the Kratom filling the opiate receptors that the pills used to fill is what I suspected. Which is actually a good thing, as it keeps me from wanting to have any pills in the future - knowing they don’t work and that I’m wasting my time and my money… No thanks! (Side note - it’s great to be thinking clearly:) Another benefit of Kratom!
